COVID-19: FPM guidelines on core and intermediate training in pain medicine

Published: 07/05/2020

The Faculty has published guidance regarding the provision of core and intermediate level pain training in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the pandemic's continuing impact on pain services, we acknowledge that trainers and trainees must adapt to continue to uphold the high quality of pain training. We encourage LPMESs and College Tutors to follow this guidance in assessing and signing off trainees in pain medicine at core and intermediate level training.

The statement is available here.

We also acknowledge the significant challenges and incredible efforts being made by anaesthetists, trainers and trainees alike, and we encourage all to access resources on our website and get in touch if you need support.

Additional advice and resources for anaesthetists and intensivists, including trainees, can be found on the joint COVID-19 guidance hub icmanaesthesiacovid-19.org/. This site is a joint resource from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, Association of Anaesthetists and Intensive Care Society.
