Examination Appeals Application Form

If a candidate who has received a reply to a formal complaint under the Complaints and Appeals process remains dissatisfied with the findings and wishes to challenge the points set out in the decision letter, he/she may submit an Appeal using the application form below.

All requests to appeal an exam must be submitted within 30 calendar days of the complaint outcome. The appeal must state the grounds for appeal, provide supporting evidence, and state the desired outcome.

Please note, appeals will not be accepted on any other grounds, for example, that a candidate:

  • considers their efforts to have been under-marked
  • failed the examination by a narrow margin
  • did not understand or was unaware of the Examination Regulations
  • seeks to question the professional or academic judgement of the examiners
  • arrived late for an examination, not allowing for the exam to start on time.

Confidentiality

The information provided in this form, and any additional supporting information that you provide, will be held by the Exams Department at the RCoA in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 and Data Protection Act 2018 (C.12).

Outside of this department, it will occasionally be necessary to disclose an appellant’s identity to progress an investigation, and this will be done as a matter of routine should any hearing by an Appeals Panel be necessary. All appeals and supporting evidence will be treated in strict confidence.

The Examination Department or Appeal Panel will only disclose information to relevant parties on a need-to-know basis. The College's Privacy Notice is available to view online.
