We are looking for a FFPMRCA Prep Course Lead to coordinate the online FFPMRCA Prep Course. The course consists of live tutorials covering key areas that have proved difficult for past examination candidates. The FPM runs two online FFPMRCA SOE prep courses a year, once prior to the Spring FFPMRCA exam sitting and one prior to the Autumn FFPMRCA exam sitting.

The role and you

This role is for a FFPMRCA Prep Course lead who will also sit on the FPM Education Sub Committee.

You will be responsible for planning and running the online Prep Course. The role is appointed for three years in the first instance, subject to review.

 

Person Specification

Those eligible must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Fellow, Associate Fellow, Affiliate Fellow or Member of the Faculty of Pain Medicine in active practice.
  • The applicant must have an interest in events.
  • Have capacity to undertake the role.  It is recommended that potential members discuss their appointment with hospital colleagues and senior management to ensure they can dedicate the appropriate time to the role.

Desirable:

  • Having recently passed the FFPMRCA. This will enable to lead to draw on personal experience when running the tutorials for the exam candidates. 

 

 

FFPMRCA Prep Course Lead Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Education and Engagement Coordinator to set dates for courses
  • Review prerecorded videos to ensure content is up to date
  • Prepare tutorial content for Prep course days
  • Lead on the online tutorials

 

FFPMRCA Online Prep Course Dates:

  • Monday 22 September 2025
  • Spring 2026 (date tbc)

 

Education Sub Committee Meetings

  • The ESC Committee meets four times a year.
  • Members are expected to attend all meetings.
  • If a meeting is held in person, expenses will be reimbursed.
  • Members may not send delegates to attend in their place.
  • Disclosure of interest.  All Committee Members should disclose to the Chair any relevant conflicting interest of any kind (financial or otherwise) arising in relation to any item on the agenda. 
  • Copies of the agenda and accompanying papers will be sent to members in advance.
  • Members can request the Chair to add items to the agenda in advance of the meeting.
  • All members are encouraged to feel able to speak freely and contribute to the discussions.  

 

 

ESC Meeting dates

  • Wednesday 24th September at 2pm on Teams
  • Tuesday 9th December at 2pm in person

 

Support

The role holder must maintain regular liaison with the Faculty. This will be primarily through the Education and Engagement Co-ordinator, and the Education and Engagement Manager. Secondary but important contacts will be the Chair and Deputy Chair of the FPMESC and the Associate Director of Faculties.
