Applications are now being accepted for 2 Essential Pain Management (EPM ) UK Regional Leads within the regions of Northern Ireland and the East Midlands.  If you would like to be considered for these vacancies, please complete and return the application form to contact@fpm.ac.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 19 November 2019.

Term of Service:
The appointment will be reviewed every three years by EPM UK under the auspices of the FPM Training and Assessment Committee (FPMTAC).

Eligibility:
Those eligible to stand must:

  • Hold a substantive post in the NHS or similar university appointment.
  • Have undergone satisfactory appraisal within their own trust or university or both.
  • Be affiliated to the Faculty of Pain Medicine.

Duties of the EPM UK Regional Lead:
The principle duty of the Regional Lead will be to act as the local point of contact for EPM activity in the specified region and feedback to the Regional Leads group on a regular basis.

Duties of the EPM UK Regional Lead also include:

  • Being a source of knowledge and point of contact for any health care staff wishing to use the EPM and/or the RAT model for teaching.
  • Encouraging the use of EPM by all health care staff, recognising that in most cases the Regional Lead has no formal authority but will lead by encouragement and example.
  • Establishing Train the Trainers and EPM awareness sessions in their region according to local need.
  • Compiling a brief periodic report setting out activity in their area and any notable learning points.
  • Reporting to EPM UK under the auspices of FPMTAC through the Clinical Lead and Deputy Clinical Lead for EPM UK.
  • Attendance at regular Skype meetings tri-annually.

It is not expected that the Regional Lead will be involved directly in any more teaching than they are currently undertaking or wish to do.
