Case of the Month #22: Post Mastectomy Pain by Dr Sonia Pierce

Published: 01/12/2022

Overview

Mrs J is a 64-year-old female who presents with a persistent right sided anterior chest wall pain, extending up to her right shoulder, and around to her axilla and posterior chest wall.

She has seen her surgical and oncological team on several occasions since surgery and she has been told she is now clear of cancer, with no recurrence. Her surgeon referred her to the pain service for specialist input on her pain management.

If you were the pain clinician seeing her for her first consultation, what questions would you like to ask?
